2013 Sculpture in the Close Exhibition

This outdoor exhibition in the grounds of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ combined new sculptures and installations with key works from the existing oeuvres of these major artists.

Foreword
The Master and Fellows of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ are delighted once again to host Sculpture in the Close. In so doing we acknowledge our gratitude to Lord Renfrew, who so imaginatively launched this concept during his mastership, and we celebrate the fact that this year’s exhibition is the 13th in the series.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ is known throughout Cambridge, and indeed beyond, for these marvellous exhibitions of contemporary sculpture. The generosity of the sculptors in lending their work for this exhibition is gratefully acknowledged. We have also received absolutely invaluable assistance from Will Gates, Hannah Gruy, Susannah Hyman, Kate Perutz, and Simona Pizzi at White Cube who have been exceptionally committed and supportive in the preparations for this exhibition.
The works of art committee of the College, led in such an excellent manner by the curator Dr Rod Mengham, has been responsible for mounting this exhibition, working closely with its advisor, Tim Marlow, who has been the essential link between the College and the artists.
The committee has also liaised with the gardens committee, chaired by Dr David Hanke. Valuable assistance was provided by the Manciple Simon Hawkey, the head gardener Paul Stearn, our maintenance supervisor Chris Brown, our lighting supervisor Peter Moore, and our Head Porter Grahame Appleby. We are also grateful for assistance from the Ecclesiastical Insurance Company.
